INVEST IN OUR FUTURE/Capital Campaign Phase II

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Melvin T. Kinslow Gymnatorium and the Bruce Baldwin Lobby

Thank you to our Capital Campaign Phase II Donors!

Southland Academy is enjoying your investment in the lives of our children and in generations to come!

Southland Academy is committed to providing a firm foundation upon which each student can build a strong mind, body, and spirit. As our school grows in tradition and history, we are entering a new phase of learning. To insure that each student is prepared in the areas of academics, technology, arts, and athletics, we must continue to enhance our programs and facilities and strive for excellence. Cooperative efforts between our parents, students, faculty, and community give Southland a strong base on which to build an exciting future. Successful capital funds campaigns insure that Southland Academy maintains its role as a leader in private education for future generations.

Southland Academy's first Capital Campaign, Phase I, came to a close in 2004 marked by significant improvements in campus facilities and growth in our endowment fund. We are sincerely grateful for the loyal support and generosity of our donors who made this possible.

Phase II of the Invest In our Future Campaign has closed, and we are enjoying the two objectives of this phase; the renovation of the Melvin T. Kinslow Gymnatorium and the growth of the Southland Endowment Fund.

Construction on the renovations to the gym began in the spring of 2005, and we celebrated completion with a ribbon cutting on November 14, 2006. Enhancements to the facility include larger and restrooms, increased seating capacity, and central air conditioning. The new, and larger, Bruce Baldwin Lobby which overlooks the gym floor, allows guests to to enjoy a game or performance while visiting the upgraded concession stand. New girls and boys dressing rooms, a conditioning room, conference room, laundry, and coaches offices, better serve students, faculty, and visitors. Complimentary to the facility is a larger stage with dressing rooms, and a state of the art sound system providing our school community improved options for cultural, as well as, athletic events.

Again, we sincerely thank those of you who  contributed to Campaign Phase II. As you can see, your gifts are already at work.
