The Personal Finance class at Southland Academy is very appreciative to have had Mr. Jonathan Futch, Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance Agent of Webster County, visit their class recently. Mr. Futch and his wife are part of the Southland family with a 6th grade son Cade and a 2-year old preschooler. Mr. Futch shared his background of getting into the insurance field, and he explained that he works on commission—the more insurance he sells, the more he is paid.

Automobile, Homeowner’s, and Life insurance were the three primary types discussed. Information was given for the management of risks. Because of the expense of insurance, Mr. Futch had a few suggestions for trying to cut the cost.

The students thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Futch’s presentation and especially enjoyed being allowed to ask questions. Mr. Futch used his knowledge and expertise to effectively answer their questions, using examples to help them better understand different scenarios.

Thank you, Mr. Futch, for helping to make our day enjoyable and fun.
