4th Grade District Winners in the Understanding Wildfire Prevention Project

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. give students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of wildfire prevention and basic environmental conservation principles through original drawings of Smokey Bear or Woodsy Owl. The Garden Club of Georgia; Deep South Region invites local garden clubs to enter this contest. Under the Town and Country Garden Club of Leslie, Georgia, the Southland Academy 4th graders participated in this contest opportunity. Congratulations to the following District Winners: Theron Payne—1st place (Smokey Bear); Lanier Yeiser—2nd place (Smokey Bear); Charlotte Brown—3rd place (Woodsy Owl); and Bella Norton—1st place (Woodsy Owl). All of these District winners’ drawings will be sent to State for judging.
