Students designed and tested floatation devices made from bubble wrap and foam pieces for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Barbie dolls. Using only the materials provided, the students created floatation devices that would allow the whole body of the action figure or doll to float for at least one minute in a small tub of water. After many tests, the students evaluated and reflected on the engineering process of their designs. Each group enjoyed working together while participating in the creation of simulated life vests and life preservers.
