Elementary Students Enjoy CrossFit

CrossFit

Southland Academy third graders were eager to attend the first Lower School RaidersCrossfit meeting of the school year.  While limiting group gatherings and adhering to the current modifications in the school day, Southland opened the first meeting of the school year to third graders.    RaidersCrossfit is typically held once a month before school and is offered to students in grades second through fifth.  The purpose of Southland Academy’s RaidersCrossfit is to help students become spiritually, emotionally, and physically “fit” while encouraging strong relationships in their faith, families, and friends.  Third grade teacher, Kasey Ivey, presented the message.  She gave each child a different colored sticker and then read Max Lucado's book, You Are Special.  Mrs. Ivey was sure to reiterate the book's message that all students, all people, are special because God made us.  She challenged the students to use kind and encouraging words to one another and concluded with a reminder to students: "You are fearfully and wonderfully made."
