Southland Clay Target Shooting Team Finishes As State Runner-Up
The 2021 GISA State Clay Target Championships were held in Savannah at the Forest City Gun Club. The JV and Varsity shooters competed against the best in the state and finished the competition as state runner-ups. Congratulations to each team member and the coaches for a great season.
The top five shooters that made up the team score included Henry Johnson (264), Jay Stanfield (255), Chase Chapman (254) and Grady Young (250).
Henry Johnson was awarded All-State honors finishing 5th in the Male High Overall. Kendall Warren was 4th in the Female High Overall.
In the sporting clays competition, Henry Johnson placed 2nd and Chase Chapman placed 3rd.
In the trap competition, Derek Lane finished 6th. Tom Hart and Jay Stanfield tied for 7th.
In the female sporting clays competition, Kendall Warren finished 4th and Lily Chapman finished 9th.
In the female skeet competition, Kendal Warren finished 4th. She also finished 9th in female trap.
In JV competition, Lucy Duke placed 2nd in the female trap.
