Teacher Biography
Susan Welch has been a part of the Southland Academy family for 48 years. She currently serves as History Department Chairman and Head Cheerleading Coach. She teaches Advanced Placement United States History and Regular United States History to 11th Graders. She also teaches Georgia History to 7th Graders. A native of Americus, Georgia, Susan graduated from Americus High School and Georgia Southwestern State University with a B. S. Degree in History and M.Ed. Degree in 1975. She has 2 children that are alumni of Southland Academy- Reggie (1990) and Lynsey (1998)- and has 2 grandchildren, Dan (Class of 2027) and James Williams. Susan is a member of First Baptist Church of Americus where she she has been teaching two and three year-olds for over 47 years. When asked why she loves Southland, Susan exclaims , " I love the students. They keep me young."
