Capital Campaign Phase II

Invest In Our Future

Southland Academy is committed to providing a firm foundation upon which each student can build a strong mind, body, and spirit. As our school grows in tradition and history, we are entering a new phase of learning. To insure that each student is prepared in the areas of academics, technology, arts, and athletics, we must continue to enhance our programs and facilities and strive for excellence. Cooperative efforts between our parents, students, faculty, and community give Southland a strong base on which to build an exciting future. Successful Capital Funds Campaigns will ensure that Southland Academy maintains its role as a leader in private education for future generations.

Southland Academy’s first Capital Campaign, Phase I, came to a close in 2004 marked by significant improvements in campus facilities and growth in our endowment fund. We are sincerely grateful for the loyal support and generosity of our donors who made this possible.

Now, as Phase II of the Invest In Our Future Campaign continues, we call on our Southland family and friends to give thoughtful consideration to supporting this endeavor.  We are continuing to seek the necessary support to fund these projects.  If you have not yet pledged, please carefully consider doing so.

The two objectives of Phase II are the renovation of the Melvin T. Kinslow Gymnatorium and to continue to grow the Southland Endowment Fund, both to better serve our students and families.

Construction on the renovations began in the spring of 2005, and we celebrated completion with a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 14, 2006.  Enhancements to the new facility include larger and nicer restrooms, increased seating capacity, and central heating and air conditioning.  The lobby, which overlooks the gym floor, has increased in size allowing guests to enjoy a game or performance while visiting the upgraded concession stand.  New girls and boys dressing rooms, a conditioning room, conference room, laundry, and coaches offices better serve our students, faculty, and visitors.  Complimentary to the facility is a larger stage with stage dressing rooms, and a state of the art sound system providing our school community improved opportunities for cultural as well as athletic events.

Brochures fully explaining plans for the Phase II funds are available in the Development Office, and we welcome your questions.

We sincerely thank those of you who have already made a pledge to the Campaign.  As you can see, your funds are already at work.

Please make your pledge todayAn investment in Southland Academy is an investment in the lives of generations to come!
