Celebrating the 100th day of school, the Southland Academy Lower School students held a canned food drive.  With great enthusiasm, students in grades K3-5th collected over 850 cans of food for the 100th Day of School Canned Food Challenge.  Sonny and Ginger Pinkard visited the students and received the donation on behalf of the Harvest of Hope food pantry.  While Mr. and Mrs. Pinkard met with the students, they explained the process of how donations are used.  The students learned what foods are called staple items, how many cans of food each client receives, and how many people it takes to run the food pantry.  Southland Academy is very thankful for the people who work with the Harvest of Hope.  It is a joy for Southland students to show compassion and to help others.
